Deison & MingleEverything Collapse[d]
Cristiano Deison: Electronics, Processing
Andrea Gastaldello: Piano, Electronics
The fourth entry in the REV. Lab Series is Deison/Mingle Everything Collapse[d].
North-east Italy, late summer 2013: Cristiano Deison and Andrea Gastaldello (aka Mingle) meet online and begin to lay the foundations for what will be their first project together. Out of this comes Everything Collapse[d], an album centred around melancholy and desolation; a concept that does not leave much hope, forcing you to look within yourself.
A foreign body coming from far away: sidereal matter which is about to implode; an object that has reached its limit. And everything collapses, swallowed up by itself.
Recorded and produced between Mingle’s Tower Home Studio and Deison’s 1st Floor Studio, Everything Collapse[d] is a perfect union of our two sounds: drones, field recordings and processed loops intermingled with disturbed rhythms, melancholy harmonies and piano chimes. A gloomy and dirty electronic sound that turns into an extremely evocative score which is full of pathos. A precise, precious and cosmic album… One Million Parsec From Your Sun.
Recorded and mixed by Andrea Gastaldello and Cristiano Deison.
Mastered by Simon Balestrazzi.
Produced by Andrea Gastaldello, Cristiano Deison and Aagoo / Rev. Lab.
Graphic design: Bas Mantel.
Mingle is the name of Andrea Gastaldello’s electronic project, eclectic performer and composer, from the area surrounding Mantova, he choosed to live in Verona and from the fogs of this Italian plain comes the inspiration of his musical works: a melanchonic journey in the deep of the soul.
Minimalist music, sophisticated melodies and compelling rhythms to listen, see and think. Andrea has been composing music for documentary films for years.
Deison is involved in the experimental electronic area from more then 20 years (he played in Meathead during 90’s) and he approached the world of sounds doing his own tape collages with tape recorders, turntables and objects mainly in the field of experimental noise; he runs a small label (Loud!) and collaborates with artist like Lasse Marhaug, KK Null, Teho Teardo, Thurstone Moore, Scanner, etc…
Influenced by the experimental music, ambient minimal electronic as well as a great interest into digital music and sound design, he operates with loops, field recordings and drones to develop swirling electronic sounds of enormous range and complex musicality. Waves of looping deep ambient scapes, penetrated with sample fragments and light additional noise-ambient textures form Deison’s silent, minimal frame-set.
